I’ve always wanted to try authentic Mexican cuisine and good thing I had my Latina friend with me to show me where in Toronto.
La Mexicana has four locations in Toronto and I went to the one located in Yorkville just a bit north of Yonge and Bloor.
This post took a bit of research as Mexican food is not something that I am very well versed in except for Taco Bell (I kid, I kid).
I ordered the prix-fixe lunch for $15 that comes with an appetizer and dessert. The star of the show has to be the main dish. Both the chicken enchilada and the beef burrito were excellent and moist.
Probably the most interesting find there was the Horchata that I tried with my meal (thanks to a very well informed suggestion). Horchata is a spanish beverage and in this case, made out of ground rice and can be served with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Light, refreshing and something that goes perfectly with the comparably heavier dishes.
Really great location for a Mexican fix any day.
Until we dine again,
